Gather Around Vertically Challenged Fashionistas...

Because the Denim Gods have finally acknowledged our presence. I might be a little late in finding this out but Joe's Jeans, Citizens of Humanity, Paige Premium and 7 for All Mankind are now making denim lengths for petites. Let's all raise our hands and praise the lord!

Hello?! Did it seriously take over 5 years of designer denim existence to finally figure out that half of their profit was coming from us mini mes of the world? Whatever or whomever finally convinced designers to make shorter lengths will forever be in my good graces. My biggest regret about this situation? Not knowing sooner.

My friend emailed me on Monday asking if I knew anything about this and of course I was appauled because I didn't, when obviously I felt like I should have known sooner being that I'm only 5'1". I couldn't accurately answer her question so after work today we decided to confirm the rumor: Are designer denim brands now making petite versions?

We searched the TBD/Savy section of Nordy's in search for these so called shorter jeans when low and behold there they were Seven's Flip Flop Dojo jeans, Citizens Petite Bootcut, Paige Laurel Canyon Petites and Joe's Provacateur Petites. It was like the Denim Gods were shining a light on the people who have always been short changed (no pun intended) by full length pants. I was so excited I couldn't contain myself - I grabbed a pair of each and rushed to the dressing room.

The shorter inseam, the high break in the knee, the perfect lengths - it was something I've never experienced before. And the thought of not having to pay another $20 to get them shortened with the original hem almost had me in tears. It was a monumental moment for me. The verdict on all 4 styles?

These 7's were my favorite out of the 4. The denim was lightweight and had a great worn in feel to it. Downfall to it...their petite was not petite enough for me - I still need to get them shortened a good inch or two.

Joe's Jeans and Citizens are actually a tie which is surprising to me because I don't love Joe's Jeans on me. I've never tried on a pair of Joe's that I love, but managed to somehow really like the fit of these ones. The fit for both were great and the lengths were just right with the perfect flats.

And unfortunately out of the bunch Paige's fell flat for me. I have a pair of the Pico style jeans which I love, but for some reason these didn't look great on me. High hopes, but they didn't deliver.

So my short friends definitely stop by your local Nordy's or check them out online for your pair of petite denim!!!

When I finally move out of Britain I'm going to miss Dorothy Perkins - the less cool sister to Topshop. The 30" jeans are perfect with flats, and the 32" are right for (my) heels - and they are neither low rise nor mom jeans.

Cheap, too!

Kids items are the best way to go for us vertically challenged. :)
